Having a sense of belonging is a basic human need. Belonging to a team will give you a sense of purpose where you are committed to the group and accountable to the actions you take within it. You will be building connections and making friends.
Sport teaches young people different life skills that they often don’t learn in school. As a team you will create a community spirit where you can celebrate each other’s achievements, set goals together and encourage each other when times are tough.
With every group comes diversity, each with their own skills, approaches, and talents which when fused together can facilitate growth, self-esteem and success.
The next time a swimmer joins your group, welcome them, make them feel included and keep them connected, value each new member and in return you will be helping build a successful and better team.
