Benefits of training with Swim Paddles
- Help you to develop power: A workout using upper body strength in the chest, arm and shoulders.
- Help develop swimming technique: Paddles enable you to be more aware of your arm pull and stroke, they encourage a better catch. Wearing them you are able to focus on your pulling motion and fine tune this part of your stroke.
- Teach you speed and efficiency: you swim longer (in terms of distance per stroke) and you swim faster.
- Mix up your workout: Wearing paddles is a great way to mix up your workout and add a break from those monotonous laps
What size paddles shall I buy?
Normal paddle size should be approximately 10% bigger than your hand. Paddles should only be worn if you are confident that your technique is correct and you are now wanting to fine tune it.
If you are a beginner, start with smaller paddles, ones that are just a little bit larger than you hands as wearing large oversized paddles could put strain on ligaments and tendons. Don’t do too much too quickly and if you experience any muscle pain stop using your paddles as they are designed to push you but shouldn’t hurt.
